• Marvel Heroes Launching This Spring

Marvel Heroes fell off my radar. I was actually invited to participate in the post announcement online interviews that Gazillion did, many many (it seems) years ago - and then totally forgot about this title. Today, Gazillion jumped back into my view by announcing the details of their "Founders Club" packages and a Spring 2013 release window for the game.

It seems to me that superhero MMO's have become a little less sexy with the rise and fall of so many titles. City of Heroes, Champions Online (which is still being run by Perfect World after they bought Cryptic) and DC Universe are all mere shadows of their former selves (or shut down). The prospects of another player in this party just doesn't seem to make a ton of business sense. I'll admit, CoH/CoV had a lot of success for a long time, but the last 1-2 years of its life were pretty sad.

Yet with an IP like Marvel, how could you NOT make an MMO?

The "Founders Club" comes in three flavours:

Starter There are 16 different Starter Packs available. Each pack includes one of 16 Super Heroes to play at launch, one bonus costume for the chosen hero, $10 of in-game currency and two days head start prior to launch. Each Starter Pack will be available for $19.99.

Premium There are seven different Premium Packs available that will come equipped with a team of four heroes from across the Marvel Universe, including X-Force, Uncanny X-Men, Marvel Knights, Avengers, Marvel NOW, Marvel Classic and a special Deadpool pack (Why? Because he made us do it). Players will also receive four bonus costumes for their team, $30 in-game currency and four days head start prior to launch. The Premium Pack is available for $59.99.

Ultimate The optimal value of the Founders Program, the Ultimate Pack includes access to ALL heroes available in Marvel Heroes at launch, ALL launch costumes plus four Ultimate Pack exclusive costumes (Maestro Hulk, Wolverine Weapon X, Spider-Man Symbiote and the Iron Man 3 Movie Armor), $50 in-game currency, seven days head start prior to launch, a permanent 5% experience boost, a permanent 5% item find boost, and more. The Ultimate Pack is available for $199.99.
So what do you think? Willing to let your comic book heart be crushed by yet another superhero MMO?

Looks more akin to an online version of Ultimate Alliance than a MMO. I'm interested, don't know if I'm $199 interested but I might be $59.99 interested if Deadpool is involved.

Yeah, Deadpool is the man, and will be on my watch list because of that.
